Bootleg Prometheus Trailer

The quality sucks, but it still looks awesome especially with the music and sounds from the original Alien trailer mixed in. Can't wait for the official HD version. Thanks to AvPGalaxy and their source James Smith for the video.

Update: Fox pulled it. Big surprise. Here is a video of stills from the Comic Con footage.

Update 2: Fox took down the other video too.

Anatomical Guide to the Xenomorph

Created by Brad McGinty, the illustration below was inspired by an ultra rare 1967 book called An Anatomical Guide to Monsters. You can find images of Godzilla, Mothra, Gamera, and Anguirus over at Zombie Cat Productions (love the name). Enthusiasts can buy a 9x12 print of the anatomical Alien here, and Brad McGinty will translate his Japanese text into English for you.

Fassbender on Prometheus

When asked whether or not there's any connection to Alien, Michael Fassbender, one of the stars of the new film Prometheus, told MTV News, "Oh, absolutely. There's a definite connecting vein. You realize you're part of something else, but it's definitely in keeping with the old ones." According to Sky Movies, the film will feature a giant animatronic Space Jockey along with an enormous head piloting a ship. H.R. Giger is also rumored to be involved as an advisor. I'd say it's still a prequel then, but they want to be careful how they're selling it, probably to keep some of the surprises intact and to make sure it's not hindered by its place in the timeline. The film is scheduled for release in June 2012.

Goodbye Prequel

In a new press release, Ridley Scott announced an original film called Prometheus in place of the Alien prequel.
"While Alien was indeed the jumping off point for this project, out of the creative process evolved a new, grand mythology and universe in which this original story takes place," said Scott. "The keen fan will recognise strands of Alien's DNA, so to speak, but the ideas tackled in this film are unique, large and provocative. I couldn't be more pleased to have found the singular tale I'd been searching for, and finally return to this genre that's so close to my heart."
I don't know how I feel about this. Does that mean Fox will leave the Alien series alone or are they going to try to do a remake now? I wasn't dying to see a prequel, but I'd rather Scott do that than Fox ruin it some other way. Why couldn't Scott or Cameron just do a sequel with Sigourney? Does it really have to end with Resurrection and AvP?

It has an in-depth interview with DVD producer Charles de Lauzirika where he discusses how he got involved and the whole production process as well as his efforts to get Fincher involved. It even has a short little Q&A with Ridley Scott. Later on, they'll also have a brand new piece about the Alien Anthology.
